What non-typical film should I review for Humanities class?

I need to review a film for Humanities class. I am not looking to review the typical pop-culture film. I would like something non-traditional or unexpected. However I have been looking online for hours and cant come up with much.

Example of what I am not looking for is: 300, Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars, No Country for Old Men

Thank You.|||Does it have to be a newer film? What particularly do you have to discuss in your review? (might give a better clue on what type of movie you should look for.) ...Are you looking for a purely artistic film, or a plot-driven one, with suspense or an "interesting" story? A philosophical film? A character-driven drama? A film with a social message or cultural significance? ... you have many different options here.

Here are some completely random suggestions of films I've enjoyed:

The Double Life of Veronique

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101765/

There's so much you can discuss about this one, as it's full of meaning and subtlety. It's also one of the most beautiful films ever. The plot concerns two women who aren't aware of each other's existence, yet seem to be doubles, and deals with questions on identity, intuition, love, mystery, and so much more.

Alice in the Cities

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_in_th鈥?/a>

A simple but very effective and sensitive film about a reluctant friendship that springs up between a "lost" writer and an abandoned little girl.

Picnic at Hanging Rock

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073540/

Unsettling film essentially about the unknown and how horrifying that unknown is... This film builds up, and builds up hypnotically - eerie and dream-like.

Stalker

Philosophically dense; one of the most deeply thought-provoking science fiction films.

More films providing lots to discuss about:

After Life

... but there are so many other films out there, too. You just have to look outside of Hollywood. Hope this helps, anyway!
