How do you clean/remove the film on the outside side of windows?

We just bought a house and I don't think the previous owners washed the windows in the last few years; there is a buildup that is like a gray or white-ish film. I've tried Windex and professional strength window cleaner and also CLR, nothing yet has worked. How do I wash it away?|||Have you tried the Windex window cleaner that you hook to the end of your water hose?...I have used it a lot with GREAT results.

You can get it at home depot and lowes.

If that is the windex you have used, go to lowes or home depot and ask the I`m sure they can help.|||If CLR didn't work not sure if anything will. but try this just mixed vinegar and water (half/half) use in a spray bottle like any other cleaner the only thing is you aren't polluting your environment with bad chemicals.|||try using a scraper (the one that is like a razor blade) you'll find them at any hardware store. They usually get this build-up from glass as well as paint and other stuff that might be on your windows. Good Luck!|||Try spraying the window with white vinegar then using a mildly abrasive scrubber such as the vinyl type used for washing dishes. Following the "scrub" rinse and repeat if needed. Use a squegee to finish your project.
